This is a new post but an old day. I didn't get anything posted from Wednesday, August 31 when we drove from Bismarck to Medora, ND.  In an early blog, i believe I shared the shots of the capital. After that we drove north of town to a Lewis and Clark site.

The site had two parts - a museum and a replica of the fort where they wintered. Pictures 1, 2, 4, and 7 were taken there. In #2 Judy is holding a gun that would have been found in the fort. Shots 6 and 10 were near the fort but closer to the river. A Newfoundland dog was on the trek. He was commemorated in the statue. Three, five, eight and nine were taken at the museum site.  Number 11 is of a Native American museum. Corky couldn't go in so we sat in the shade. The plants growing in the beds behind the short wall are tobacco. The plaque indicated that the young men did not partake in smoking, but the old men who were done hunting and fighting could smoke so they grew tobacco.

As Judy was researching the route of our trip, she found a 35 mile strip of highway that featured huge metal sculptures. They were designed and built by one man who had an interest in reviving his town at the south end of the strip. I'm not sure about the town, but we enjoyed the sculptures.

I'm not sure we captured all of them but we tried.

We ended up in Medora, ND for two nights. I did blog about that.

Tomorrow which is really Saturday, September 3, we will end up in Babb, MT - east Glacier Park.
