Saturday, September 3. Day 7.

Traveling from Billings to Chewing Black Bones in Babb, MT. Lloooonnnngggg day!  381 miles.

We made one site seeing stop today - the headwaters of the mighty Missouri River.

The Jefferson River straight ahead joins the Madison River coming from the left to make the Missouri.

This is the Madison River before it joins the Jefferson.

The explanation of what was at this site is.

Today we divided our time somewhat in half between interstates and fast two lanes. The vastness of MT is unrelenting. North of Helena we passed some gorgeous multi-colored  reds and browns. No photo ops unfortunately. Much of the land north of that was basically uphill rolling from side to side and front to back. Many ranches with fancy entry markings. Vast fields were hay had been cut and baled. Fields with beef cattle. Other fields with a few horses but not many residences.

Other observations were lots and "homesteads" with a mobile home in total disrepair with another next to it in only a bit better shape with various vehicles and equipment also in various stages of disrepair. There is so much mess. It made me sad and concerned. Why?

Nine hours today from Billings to setup.

This was what we saw when we were finally in our campsite. The sun setting over the Lower St. Marys Lake which is outside the park. Nice reward.

The shot below won't look important to those who don't camp in a vehicle. While our site looks flat and level, it was quite lower in front than in back.  We have crutches to help us help the camper to level itself. Our friend Glenn helped us begin to understand what to do. We did this all by ourselves.

One more shot of beautiful before dark and rain.

Tomorrow a red bus tour and a boat tour!
