HOLY BISON, WHAT A DAY!

Last day of August 2022. Day four of our Glacier trip.

This morning we chose the scenic and a bit longer route from Medora to the north unit of Teddy Roosevelt National Park. One the wonderfully smooth but all gravel road we saw the sites below not in this order. (I have not figured out how to choose photo order other than selecting them one at a time.)

During our journey the relatively flat farm land began to look like this.

While still in the flatter farmland, we saw oil/gas pumps. This one is right next to a huge field of sunflowers. We noticed that every pump and every storage area had a windsock. Doing a google, we discovered that the employees who service these are in severe danger of being overcome and dying from a super deadly odorless gas.

Along Rt. 58 from Medora to the north unit.

The view below is from in front of the visitors' center.

More fantastic formations

The next two were taken just inside the gates of the north unit.

The next six shots are of various formations. it seems things get formed by weaker and stronger materials next to each other being eroded at different speeds mostly by water.

                                                        These characters are hoodoos.

The cannon ball formations are called concretions.

The next five shots are views of the Little Missouri River at different places in the north unit.

It is not unusual to see dark gray "rocks" on top or on "shoulders" of the big formations. The sign below explains what it is

We spotted one or maybe two bison in the north unit.

At the rest stop overlook of the Painted Canyon of the south unit we saw the following four views.

Prairie Dogs and their villages.

A beautiful bison day!
